Karachi Sees Spike in Fatal Robbery Incidents, 46 Killed in 2025 So Far
Karachi is witnessing a troubling rise in fatal incidents linked to robbery resistance, with at least 46 citizens losing their lives since the start of 2025, according to a report by ARY News.
Authorities report that in just the past week, six individuals were killed after reportedly trying to resist robberies — a stark reflection of the growing law and order challenges in the metropolis.
Among the recent victims were two young men, gunned down in separate incidents on Monday. In Korangi, a youth named Faisal Mahmood was shot dead during a motorbike snatching attempt. Police say Faisal, the son of a local mosque’s muezzin, was shot in the eye when he resisted the robbers. Eyewitnesses described a heartbreaking scene as the young man lay in agony while the suspects fled with the stolen bike.
Law enforcement officials have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and believe that motorbike-snatching gangs have become active again in several parts of the city.
In another tragic case reported on Friday, Shah Fahd was fatally shot during a robbery in Karachi’s Landhi No. 4 area. The attack happened during a power outage, further complicating the situation for both residents and first responders. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Shah succumbed to his injuries.
These incidents underline the urgent need for enhanced policing and community safety measures to protect citizens from rising street crime.
