In a significant operation, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) neutralized a key terrorist involved in the Karachi Police Office (KPO) attack. The operation took place at the Northern Bypass, where the CTD acted on a tip-off and confronted the terrorist.
DIG CTD revealed that the deceased, identified as Umar Farooq, was affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and was the mastermind behind the KPO attack. During the raid in the Mochko area, the terrorist opened fire on CTD personnel. Fortunately, a bullet struck Sub-Inspector Irfan’s bulletproof jacket, leaving him unharmed. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the terrorist was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.
CTD officials recovered a pistol and a motorcycle from the scene. This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
