Karachi Shaken by Mild Earthquake

Karachi experienced a mild tremor with a magnitude of 3.2, stirring the city, particularly the Clifton area. The seismic event originated 15 kilometers northeast of Karachi, at a depth of 22 kilometers. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage reported.

This incident marks the third minor earthquake to shake Karachi in recent weeks, following a 2.3 magnitude quake on May 2 and another 3.2 magnitude quake on April 24. These tremors serve as a reminder of Pakistan’s seismic vulnerability, being located at the juncture of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

The recurring seismic activity highlights the critical need for earthquake preparedness and mitigation measures. Experts recommend steps such as securing movable items, creating a disaster plan, organizing emergency supplies, and considering insurance to minimize financial hardship. These precautions are vital for enhancing safety and resilience in earthquake-prone regions like Karachi
