Wounded Camel in Sanghar to Receive Artificial Leg in Karachi

Following a disturbing incident in Sanghar, where a camel’s leg was allegedly amputated by a landlord, authorities have taken action. The wounded animal has been shifted to Karachi, and Sanghar Deputy Commissioner Imran ul Hassan Khawaja announced that it will be fitted with an artificial leg.

The incident occurred when the camel entered an agricultural field in Sanghar’s Mundh Jamrao area. In response, the landlord and his employees resorted to physical violence, torturing the camel and amputating its leg as punishment for foraging. A viral video of the incident drew widespread condemnation. Although the police initially registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown individuals, they later arrested five people in connection with the animal abuse, two of whom confessed to the crime.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori pledged to give two camels to the owner of the injured animal. The CDRS Benji Project is currently sheltering the wounded camel in Karachi, where professionals are treating its amputated leg and working on arranging a prosthetic replacement. The camel will remain with the organization permanently, as it will be disabled for life. Kudos to the rescue efforts led by Shazia Marri and others, ensuring the camel’s safety and comfort
