Karachi Mayor Prepares for Rain Challenges After Successful Cleanup

Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, announced that after successfully handling the cleanup of animal waste, the next major challenge is the upcoming rains, for which all preparations have been completed. The five-day operation to remove animal waste concluded successfully, with 146,584 tons of waste cleared.

Speaking at a press conference at the KMC headquarters, Mayor Wahab shared that he will request the federal government and the Prime Minister to expedite the resolution of the K-IV water project. He praised the sanitary workers for their exceptional performance in cleaning the city during the intense heat and announced plans to honor municipal staff and sanitary workers in the City Council following the budget meeting.

Following the rains, the focus will shift to developmental works and the completion of ongoing projects. Mayor Wahab detailed that 83,521 tons of waste were buried in Jam Chakro, 46,907 tons in Gond Pass, and 16,156 tons in Sharafi Goth. He expressed gratitude to all town chairmen, including those from the Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, and PTI, for their participation on the ground, emphasizing the positive collaboration established.
