Even though a judge denied the suspect’s bail in a separate hearing, a Karachi resident who was beaten in the Defence Housing Authority earlier this week says he has forgiven the suspect and does not wish to pursue the matter in court.
A primary suspect and two of his staff were taken into custody by Karachi police on Monday on suspicion of assaulting a citizen named Dheeraj. Salman Farooqi, the suspect, was taken into custody from DHA and his car was seized.
After a minor mishap, Farooqi, who was driving a luxury car, is accused of assaulting a motorcycle on the Khayaban-i-Ittehad Road who was with a woman.
On Tuesday, a judge placed Farooqi and his bodyguard, Owais Hashmi, in police detention in connection with the case. After completing their two-day remand, the police produced them in court today.
An eyewitness citizen’s complaint led to the registration of a case against the suspects at the Gizri police station.
Dheeraj submitted a certificate of no objection (NOC). The sessions court rejected the NOC, stating that the affidavit seemed to have been produced under duress or improper influence.
