Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab officially opened Cove Beach Resort, Karachi’s first-ever beach resort designed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Located at the scenic Hawk’s Bay, the resort is now open to the public, offering modern amenities and stunning ocean views.
Speaking at the launch event, Mayor Wahab shared his excitement, saying that residents of Karachi no longer need to travel abroad to enjoy a luxury beach experience. “Now, our city has its very own world-class leisure destination,” he said proudly.
The resort was completed in just six months—a milestone achievement for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). Mayor Wahab highlighted that this development is part of a broader effort to modernize public spaces and improve recreational opportunities for locals.
He also revealed plans for a second beach resort, likely to be developed in areas like Ibrahim Hyderi or Malir, aimed at giving even more citizens access to quality recreational facilities.
During his address, the mayor outlined other key initiatives led by the KMC, such as:
- Clearing 46 stormwater drains to reduce the risk of flooding during monsoon season
- Beautification of II Chundrigar Road, Karachi’s financial hub
- Restoration projects for historic landmarks like Denso Hall, Empress Market, and Frere Hall
- The creation of a mangrove conservation park to promote environmental education and awareness
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, Parliamentary Leader Karamullah Waqasi, Deputy Leader Dil Muhammad, several Union Council chairmen, and other city officials.
