Garbage Picker Killed by Security Guard’s Firing in North Karachi

A young garbage picker was shot and killed by a security guard in North Karachi. Police have registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s father, and Geo News has obtained CCTV footage of the security guard fleeing the scene after the shooting.
On Friday, in North Karachi’s Sector 11A, a minor altercation led to a security guard opening fire, critically injuring the young garbage picker, who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The case was registered at Sir Syed Police Station on behalf of the deceased 17-year-old Samad’s father, Muhammad Ayub.
In the complaint, the father stated that he and his son had arrived in North Karachi’s Sector 11A to collect garbage. He left Samad at the location to attend Friday prayers at a nearby mosque. Upon his return, he found his son lying on the ground with a bullet wound in his abdomen. The injured Samad informed his father that the security guard had shot him and then fled. Nearby witnesses identified the shooter as a security guard named Ramzan.
The police have detained the supervisor of the private security company, Asim. The police claim that the private company had hired untrained guards. Raids are being conducted to arrest the fleeing guard, Ramzan.
Geo News has obtained CCTV footage showing the suspect, Ramzan, running away while holding a weapon. Meanwhile, the police have written to the relevant authorities to revoke the security company’s license.
