Karachi’s Cattle Market Charms with ‘Bablu and Ranjha’

As Karachi gears up for the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, the city’s cattle market has become a spectacle of festivity, showcasing a pair of bulls that have captured the hearts of many. Named Bablu and Ranjha, these bovine celebrities are not only for their impressive size and beauty but also for their unique diet consisting of butter, ghee, and nuts.

The market, adorned with a variety of splendidly decorated animals, buzzes with excitement, particularly around Bablu and Ranjha. These bulls, valued at 4.5 million and 5.5 million respectively, stand out not just for their price tags but also for their captivating eyes, a testament to their owner’s care.

As the city anticipates the moon sighting to mark the commencement of Eid-ul-Azha, expected on June 17, the Climate Data Processing Centre at PMD Pakistan has indicated a strong likelihood of the moon being visible on June 7. The new moon is set to appear at 5:38 PM on June 6, with the moon’s age at sunset on June 7 predicted to be 26 hours and 8 minutes, providing a 72-minute window for sighting.

This year’s Eid-ul-Azha, a festival deeply rooted in the tradition of sacrifice and giving, promises to be a time of joy and community spirit. As families prepare to partake in the ritual of sacrifice, reminiscent of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion, the story of Bablu and Ranjha adds a touch of charm to the age-old celebrations.
