The Islamabad High Court declared the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Sanam Javed illegal and concluded her release petition. The Attorney General informed the court that Sanam Javed is now free and can return to her province.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court remarked that he had observed Sanam Javed using very inappropriate language online. The court asked her lawyer if he could guarantee that Sanam Javed would refrain from using inappropriate language in the future.
Lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq assured the court that Sanam Javed would not use inappropriate words henceforth. It is noteworthy that on July 15, the Islamabad High Court ordered the release of Sanam Javed and instructed that she not be arrested until Thursday.
Later, Sanam Javed’s lawyer, Advocate Mian Ashfaq Ali, spoke to the media, revealing that they had met with the Attorney General, who assured them that Sanam Javed would not be arrested in any case across the country. The Attorney General also stated that the FIR registered in Balochistan would be withdrawn and reiterated in the Islamabad High Court that no further arrests would be made.
He mentioned that the cases registered against Sanam Javed in Islamabad and Quetta would be withdrawn within two days. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb noted that Sanam Javed used very harsh and inappropriate language.
Mian Ashfaq apologized to the court on behalf of Sanam Javed and assured the court that she would be more careful in the future.
