Water Supply Suspension Alert in Karachi: Affected Areas Announced

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has announced a temporary suspension of water supply due to repairs on its main water line on University Road.

According to a statement issued by the KWSC, work to repair leakages in the 48-inch main line will commence at 8 am on June 22 and is expected to be completed by 8 pm on June 23.

Due to this repair work, water supply from the University Reservoir will be suspended in the following areas:

  • District Central
  • Gulistan-e-Jauhar
  • Scheme 33
  • Some parts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal

The KWSC has advised residents in these areas to store water in advance and use it prudently during the repair period.

On Thursday, protests erupted in various parts of the city over the non-availability of electricity and water. Protesters staged sit-ins at North Karachi Power House Chowrangi and Gulzar-e-Hijri Scheme 33, blocking traffic and setting tires on fire. They also chanted slogans against the concerned authorities, expressing their frustration over the ongoing utility shortages.
