Shaikha Mahra Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has publicly announced her divorce from Sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum on Instagram. This news comes shortly after the couple welcomed their first child just over two months ago.
In her Instagram post, Shaikha Mahra addressed her husband directly: “Dear Husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”
The couple married in May of last year, and their daughter was born twelve months later. Sheikha Mahra had previously expressed her joy at becoming a mother, calling it her “most memorable experience” and thanking her medical team and hospital staff for their care. Photos shared at the time, now deleted, showed Sheikh Mana tenderly holding their newborn daughter, and the couple had celebrated a gender reveal party in February.
However, in recent weeks, Sheikha Mahra had posted a cryptic Instagram message, cuddling with her baby and writing, “Just the two of us,” hinting at potential marital issues.
Sheikha Mahra, known for her advocacy for women’s empowerment and support for local UAE designers, holds a degree in International Relations from a UK university and has studied at the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Administration College. She is one of 26 children of the Dubai ruler and has Emirati and Greek heritage, with her mother, Zoe Grigorakos, hailing from Greece.
The divorce announcement has stirred a frenzy on social media, with many noticing that the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted all photos of each other from their profiles. Speculations range from a possible hack of Sheikha Mahra’s account to the couple blocking each other.
