Nephew of PPP Leader Killed in Karachi Barber Shop Shooting

A shooting incident at a barber shop in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal resulted in the death of Sajid Sharif, the nephew of Wasim Brohi, president of PPP District City Area PS 101 Youth Wing, and regional leader Akram Baloch. The Karachi Police identified the deceased as 35-year-old Sajid Sharif, son of Sharif Dilshan Sajid. According to Sajid’s uncle, Sajid Brohi, Sajid was the third of six brothers and worked at a poultry meat shop.

The police have identified five suspects, Nasser, Hamza, Bilal, Razaq, and Rizwan, in connection with the murder, and a case is expected to be filed against them. Brohi has called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Army Chief, DG Rangers, IG Sindh, Additional IG Karachi, DIG East, and other police officials to ensure the arrest of those responsible.

SHO Aziz Bhatti, Shehzad Ilyas, revealed that one of the suspects, Nasser, had previously killed Sajid’s cousin and had been arrested. Nasser, who served 16 years in prison, was released on bail four months ago. Dr. Sikandar from Jinnah Hospital reported that Sajid was shot ten times. SSP Gulshan Iqbal, Abdul Aleem, confirmed that the shooting stemmed from a family feud and that eight bullet casings were found at the scene. While the family has named several suspects, they prefer not to officially accuse anyone until a case is filed. The operational and investigative police are currently investigating the incident.

In a related incident, a PPP worker, Nauman Abbasi, was killed in Korangi. Nauman, who also owned a small restaurant, was shot while riding his motorcycle. Despite being critically injured, he managed to confront one of the attackers. Nearby residents intervened, overpowering one of the gunmen. Both Nauman and the attacker succumbed to their injuries at JPMC. Nauman was allegedly involved in various illicit activities, including land grabbing and illegal trade, and was also a police informant.
