Altaf Hussain Secures £65,000 in Legal Costs from MQM-P in UK Court Ruling

In a significant legal victory, MQM founder Altaf Hussain has been awarded £65,000 (approximately Rs23.3 million) in legal costs by the UK Court of Appeal. This ruling overturns a previous decision that favored MQM-Pakistan leaders. Additionally, Hussain’s lawyer will receive £77,760, which had been previously withheld.

This ruling is the latest development in a protracted legal battle between Hussain and MQM-P leaders, who split from his party in 2016. The core of the dispute is the ownership of seven London properties valued at GBP 10 million. Last year, the court had ruled in favor of MQM-P, recognizing them as the beneficiaries of the trusts and properties.

However, the recent decision by the Court of Appeal has shifted the balance in Hussain’s favor. MQM-P spokesperson Mustafa Azizabadi announced that Hussain intends to claim over £100,000 in legal costs from MQM-P. The party’s leader, Syed Aminul Haque, has confirmed that they will comply with the court’s orders.

This ongoing legal battle underscores the deep-seated conflict between Altaf Hussain and MQM-P leaders, with significant implications for the ownership of valuable properties and the allocation of legal costs.
