DHA Requests 6,000 Acres of Seafront Land in Karachi for Expansion

The Sindh government is currently reviewing a request from the Defense Housing Authority (DHA) for the allocation of up to 6,000 acres of seafront land in Karachi. DHA has requested this land, preferably on the beach side, to expand its housing scheme aimed at providing relief to the families of martyrs and armed forces personnel.

In December 2023, DHA approached the caretaker government of Sindh, seeking the land for future expansion. In a letter to the Sindh chief minister, the DHA administrator explained the reasons for the expansion plan, while also expressing gratitude to the provincial government for its past support of various DHA projects.

The letter highlighted the division of DHA Karachi and DHA City Karachi, stating that the need for additional land has become crucial for DHA Karachi to fulfill its primary objective of assisting Shuhada families and armed forces personnel. It requested a lease for a compact piece of land measuring between 5,000 and 6,000 acres for this purpose.
