Javed Akhtar Odho Reappointed as Karachi’s Police Chief

The Sindh government has reappointed Javed Akhtar Odho, a grade-21 police officer, as the new Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi. This decision was announced through a notification issued by Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah.

Odho, also known as Allah Bux, was previously awaiting a new posting. He will now take over the role of AIG for the Karachi Range with immediate effect. This appointment relieves Imran Yaqoob Minhas, who is currently leading the Counter Terrorism Department, of his additional responsibilities as AIG.

Minhas had replaced Khadim Hussain Rind in March, who had taken over from Odho in September of the previous year. This marks the second time Odho has been appointed as the city’s police chief. He previously served in this role from July 2022 until September 5, 2023, when he was removed by the caretaker government following directives from the Election Commission of Pakistan.
