Karachi Port witnessed a historic moment as the ultra-large container vessel, MSC Anna, made its maiden call at the South Asia Pakistan Terminals (SAPT). With an impressive overall length of 400 meters and a capacity of 19,368 TEUs, MSC Anna exemplifies the terminal’s advanced capabilities and strategic significance in the region.

Hutchison Ports Pakistan, in an official statement, hailed the arrival of MSC Anna as a milestone, highlighting the terminal’s ability to efficiently handle vessels of such magnitude. As the country’s sole deep-water container terminal equipped with state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure, Hutchison Ports Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s maritime industry.

CEO of Hutchison Ports Pakistan, CS Kim, expressed pride in hosting massive ships like MSC Anna, emphasizing the terminal’s track record of efficiently managing vessels of varying sizes. The arrival of MSC Anna is expected to not only reduce shipping costs but also boost government revenue through increased port activities and trade.

This development underscores the pivotal role of Karachi Port in strengthening Pakistan’s position in global trade and driving economic growth. The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) spokesperson described MSC Anna’s presence as a testament to the nation’s growing maritime capabilities, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s maritime history.

General Manager of Operations at KPT, Rear Admiral Rizwan Ahmed, oversaw the monumental event, further emphasizing the importance of MSC Anna’s arrival for the port and the nation as a whole.
