SSGC to halt gas supply in Karachi for 12 hours

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a scheduled 12-hour gas supply interruption on August 4 for several districts in Karachi. This interruption aims to upgrade the gas infrastructure and enhance gas pressure for consumers.

SSGC’s statement highlights that this measure is intended to provide a more consistent and efficient gas supply to industrial, commercial, and residential users. A new transmission pipeline, 20 inches in diameter and 12.5 kilometers in length, will be integrated into the existing system. This infrastructure improvement is expected to significantly enhance the gas distribution network, address low-pressure issues, and ensure a more reliable gas supply.

To incorporate this pipeline, gas delivery will be temporarily halted in various regions from 8 AM to 8 PM on the specified date, which falls on a Sunday. During this time, the affected areas will experience a complete gas outage.

Prominent residential and industrial areas, including Korangi Sector 21, 28, 29, G-36, B-36, 37-A Hashim Goth, Mansehra Colony, Allahabad Goth, and others, will be impacted by the service disruption.

SSGC advises both industrial and residential customers to prepare for this event and arrange alternatives to mitigate the impact of this short-term outage. The company underscores that this upgrade is essential for the long-term improvement and reliability of gas services in the area.
